Tebo's Experience

Frank “Tebo” Thibeaux is an accomplished bassist, producer, and bandleader whose career spans funk, blues, R&B, and zydeco‑infused grooves. Based in the Bay Area, Tebo has worked with an extraordinary range of artists, from jazz legend Herbie Hancock to hip‑hop pioneer MC Hammer, and bluesman John Lee Hooker Jr. His versatility and deep musicality have made him a sought‑after collaborator in both live and studio settings.
Tebo is credited on two GRAMMY‑nominated albums by John Lee Hooker Jr.: Blues with a Vengeance (2004) and All Odds Against Me (2008), both nominated for Best Traditional Blues Album at the 47th and 51st GRAMMY Awards respectively. These projects blend contemporary blues with modern storytelling, and Tebo’s bass work adds a distinctive groove that underpins Hooker Jr.’s sound.
His own albums, Swamp Man and State of Mind, showcase his signature blend of funky blues with a zydeco twist, reflecting his Louisiana roots and wide‑ranging influences. Beyond the studio, Tebo leads Tebo’s Howlin’ Wolf Revue, bringing together top‑tier musicians for high‑energy sets that honor the spirit of classic blues while infusing it with fresh, danceable rhythms. His shows often feature material from his solo work alongside reimagined blues standards, creating an experience that’s both authentic and contemporary.
In 2014, he traveled to Poland to work with the band Daddy’s Cash, producing the track “Body Blues” and contributing to the album of the same name, which went on to earn a Golden Record in Poland. Whether on international stages, in intimate clubs, or behind the mixing board, Tebo continues to bridge genres and generations, bringing his distinctive sound and collaborative spirit to audiences worldwide.
