Top Shelf Big Band is a vibrant seventeen-piece jazz orchestra based in the South San Francisco Bay Area. With roots in Sunnyvale, this community-driven ensemble brings the golden era of big band to life, performing swing and jazz standards inspired by legends like Count Basie, Les Brown, Ted Heath, Glenn Miller, and Frank Sinatra, as well as contemporary influences from artists such as Gordon Goodwin and Louis Dowdeswell

Founded as a volunteer organization, the band is committed to making live big band music accessible throughout the communities where they live and work. Known for its danceable arrangements and flair, Top Shelf Big Band can frequently be heard performing in parks, local markets, and festivals across the South Bay Area

In addition to traditional concerts, Top Shelf Big Band offers unique interactive experiences such as Big Band Karaoke—a fan favorite event series where audience members can step onto the stage and sing classic big band standards with the full orchestra. A notable recent performance took place at the Tabard Theatre in San Jose as part of the San Jose Jazz SummerFest.

Whether fitting swing into a wedding, enlivening a festival, or hosting a karaoke night for fans of vintage jazz, Top Shelf Big Band is known for its musical passion and ability to bring classic tunes back to life with flair and excitement.
